Child Care Facility Inspections/Regulations

The Environmental Health staff are responsible for conducting annual inspections in child care facilities in Newton County.

These child care facilities are licensed or regulated by the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services (DESE) Bureau of Child Care and include centers, group homes, family child care homes and head starts.

Inspections are carried out pursuant to a contract with the Bureau of Child Care and performed according to standards set forth by that agency.  Areas of concern include:

  • Food preparation

  • Storage and Service

  • Diapering and general hygiene

  • Environmental hazards indoors and outdoors

  • General cleanliness/sanitation
