What We Do

The Newton County Health Department is an organization designed to fulfill the public health needs of the citizens of Newton County.  The services offered are very diverse, but all important.  These services include, but are not limited to:

  • Birth & Death certificates

  • Immunizations

  • WIC services and benefits

  • Restaurant, retail, lodging and childcare inspections

  • Well water testing and septic permits

Our Mission

The Newton County Health Department is dedicated to improving and protecting the health of the community. This is done by promoting healthy activities, helping to prevent diseases, and protecting the environment through assessment, education, leadership, and partnership. Newton County will be a community where people can attain their full health potential.

Trustees are elected by Newton County residents.

​

The Newton County Health Department Board of Trustees meets the second Monday of every month at 5:00 pm. The meeting takes place in the Health Department conference room and is open to the public.

The Newton County Health Department and WIC Program are equal opportunity/affirmative action employers.  Services provided on a non-discriminatory basis.  Standards for services and/or participation in the WIC program are the same for everyone, regardless of race, color, national origin, sex, age or handicap.
